Quest Reborn Dungeon Quest Controls

Two ability keys, Shift Lock, and the dodge habits that keep Hardcore alive.

Last updated:

Controls

Dungeon Quest looks simple until a Northern mage applies anti-heal while you are still clicking the floor. This page is the input map for PC, mobile, and controller. Read it after Getting Started and before you blame your Warrior or Mage kit.

Online parties do not save you if you stand in a beam. Learn the keys, then take them into Hardcore mode.

PC defaults

  • Move — WASD or arrow keys.
  • Jump — Space. You will jump more than you think; many slams are dodge-jumps, not heals.
  • Abilities — Q and E fire the two equipped skills. The icons sit on the lower bar.
  • Inventory — the bag control in the lower right. Unequip here before you upgrade or trade.
  • Shift Lock — toggle camera lock so your character faces a consistent heading. Almost every veteran guide, including the Getting Started video, tells you to leave it on. Strafe dodges and parkour gaps are easier when the camera does not drift.

Clicking the world to move is slower than WASD in a timed map. Northern Lands gives you eleven minutes. Abyssal Void gives you fifteen. You do not have time to click-path through a pack.

Mobile and tablet

On a phone the same two abilities become on-screen buttons. The jump and inventory icons sit on the right cluster. Shift Lock is still worth enabling in the Roblox menu if your device supports it; otherwise keep your thumb on the dodge-jump and treat every telegraph as a “move first, tap skill second” rule.

Fat-fingered heals wipe parties. If you are the designated healer, put the heal on the button you can hit without covering the joystick. Spell Power still scales that heal — see Skill Points.

Console

Controller users map the two abilities to the face or bumper cluster depending on their Roblox layout. The important part is the same: two skills, one jump, one inventory. Do not hide the ability bar. Late bosses stack anti-heal, colored bombs, and moving beams. You need to see cooldown gems.

Combat habits that are really controls

Inputs are useless if the habit is wrong.

  • Do not melee a mechanic that wants range. Warriors still spend most late-game damage in physical abilities, not in auto-swings. The Warrior build explains that shift.
  • Do not panic-press both keys. Q and E have real cooldowns unless you are reading a banned auto farm script. Waste both buttons on a dead pack and the mini-boss will eat you.
  • Turn during the wind-up, not after the slam. Shift Lock lets you strafe the tell. If you wait for the damage number, you are already late.
  • Unequip before UI work. Upgrade benches and trade windows ignore equipped pieces. That is a control issue as much as a menu issue.

Ability loadout is a control choice

You only have two slots. Put the skill you press on cooldown every pack in Q and the panic button (heal, speed, taunt) in E — or the reverse if that matches your hands. The Abilities tier list ranks Enhanced Inner Focus, Enhanced Inner Rage, Universal Heal, and the filler beams so you stop slotting Fireball into Abyssal Void.

Taunt is a starter warrior tool. It is not a late-game plan unless your group asked for a tank. Pubs want damage and a clean dodge.

Settings that help more than a new sword

Lower graphics if your frame time spikes in Orbital Outpost or Abyssal Void. A dropped frame is a missed strafe. Mute other experiences so you hear telegraphs. Bind Shift Lock to a key you will not fat-finger while pressing E.

If you came here because you cannot find a code button, that is not a keybind. The box is inactive — see How to redeem codes.

When the inputs feel automatic, return to the Guides Hub and pick the next map with the dungeon checker. Controls do not replace power. They keep the power you already have.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

What keys cast abilities in Dungeon Quest?

Q and E on PC. Mobile uses the two on-screen skill buttons. You only have two equipped abilities at a time.

Should I use Shift Lock?

Yes. It steadies dodges and parkour. Most veteran guides treat it as default, not optional.

Why will my item not upgrade or trade?

Unequip it first. The blacksmith and the trade window ignore equipped gear.

Is there a code hotkey?

No. Redemption is inactive for most players. Check the Codes Hub instead of hunting a bind.
