Quest Reborn Desert Temple Walkthrough

The first door, the remaster that stops at Hard, and the legacy ladder that still has Nightmare.

Desert Temple Guide

Desert Temple is dungeon one. Every Dungeon Quest account walks the sand before Winter Outpost. The confusion in 2026 is that two versions sit on the play menu: a remaster that launched on 8 December 2023, and the legacy map that still has Insane and Nightmare. New players join the remaster, never see Nightmare, and think the game deleted difficulties. It did not. This page is the first-door walkthrough and the toggle.

The video in the middle is a real short that shows how a new account opens the old Desert Temple and Winter Outpost. Watch that, then come back for the numbers. Pair this guide with Getting Started and the Dungeon List.

Remaster versus legacy

Remaster Desert Temple

  • Easy 1, Medium 5, Hard 15.
  • Fifteen-minute timer.
  • No Insane, no Nightmare.
  • Sand theme, Sand Peasants, Sand Giant at the end.
  • Gregg can spawn in remaster rooms.
  • This is the default door for many new clients.

Legacy Desert Temple

  • Easy 1, Medium 6, Hard 12, Insane 20, Nightmare 27.
  • Ten-minute timer.
  • Full rarity ladder, including the Desert Fury legendary on Nightmare.
  • Gregg does not spawn in legacy.
  • Wave Defense exists here and is the classic early XP hose.

If your play menu only shows Easy–Hard, you are on remaster. Look for a legacy or “old map” control — community shorts still demonstrate it because Voldex did not put a tutorial tooltip on the button. Winter Outpost uses the same split: remaster stops at Hard, legacy goes to Nightmare 55.

Play remaster to learn the hallway. Switch to legacy when you want Nightmare loot, Wave Defense, and a chest that can actually purple. How to get legendaries does not apply on remaster Hard.

How to play the first hour here

Join or create a lobby. Online co-op is the design. Use the wand if you want range, the sword if you want melee spacing, and Fireball either way. Turn on Hardcore mode only if you can finish on one life — double loot is real, a wipe is also real.

Sand Giant is a telegraph fight, not a DPS check. Circle, do not face-tank. Controls cover Shift Lock, Q, and E. If you die to slams, that page is the fix, not a new game pass.

After the chest:

  1. Walk to the docks. Vendor junk on the right path.
  2. Unequip one piece and upgrade it at the blacksmith near spawn.
  3. Put skill points into Physical or Spell Power, not both. Skill planner.
  4. Run a higher difficulty on this biome before you sightsee Winter.

The dungeon checker will keep you in Desert / Winter until about level 30, then send you toward Pirate Island. Trust a finishable Nightmare over a new name.

Loot and when to leave

Early sets (Red Knight, Templar, Guardian) are teaching tools. Guardian is for people who actually taunt. Most pubs want a Warrior or Mage that does not die in the first pack.

Desert Fury is the famous early legendary. It is not Voidspire. Do not sit in Desert Nightmare for a month because a 2019 video said so. Once Winter Outpost Nightmare is comfortable, move. Pirate Island at 60/65 is the first “Insane and Nightmare only” story door for most accounts.

Codes will not skip this map. Daily rewards after you join the official group are the free gold. Extra Item is optional this early — Game Passes. VIP’s 1.2x EXP is nicer than a hat.

How this door connects to the rest of the wiki

This is the only early biome with its own walkthrough on purpose. Mid maps share the Dungeon List so the PC dropdown stays at seven guide links plus View all. Late maps already have pages: Enchanted Forest, Northern Lands, Gilded Skies, Yokai Peak, Abyssal Void.

If Gregg laughs in remaster, read the Gregg guide before you stand in Coin Rain. If you came here from a “how to play old Desert Temple” search, you are in the right article. If you came here looking for dungeon 18, you want 2026 Status — Void is still the end.

Invite friends. A four-player Hardcore remaster clear teaches dodge faster than a pride solo on legacy Nightmare 27. Then go play the old map when you actually want the chest.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Why does my Desert Temple only go to Hard?

You are on the remaster. Open the legacy version of the map to get Insane 20 and Nightmare 27.

Does Gregg spawn in Desert Temple?

In the remaster, yes. In legacy Desert Temple, no.

Should I farm Desert Fury forever?

No. Learn the fight, grab a usable pot, then move to Winter Outpost and Pirate Island as the checker allows.

Is Wave Defense on remaster Desert?

Wave Defense is the early-map XP toggle. Use legacy Desert and Winter if the remaster lobby hid it. The Wave Defense page lists which doors still have it.
