Bosses Tier List

Every dungeon in Dungeon Quest ends on a boss, but only a handful actually gate your climb. This list ranks the bosses that appear in regular clears, the bonus bosses that drop Ultimate-tier loot, and the raid targets from Boss Raids. Pair it with the Weapons and Dungeons lists.

Difficulty names are consistent across bosses: regular clears run Easy through Nightmare. Bonus bosses only spawn under specific conditions. The mechanics below describe Nightmare for the fights that matter.

S tier — Bonus bosses that drop Ultimates

The Voidborn (Abyssal Void) — The hardest fight in the live game. Telegraphs a sweeping beam, a stomp with a long stun, and a phase transition at roughly 50% health. Drops Voidspire and Abyssal Veil (Physical) plus Voidfallen’s Effigy and Edict (Spell Power). Walkthrough on the Abyssal Void guide.

Odin Reincarnation (Northern Lands) — A pair of one-shots and a spin that hits the whole arena. Drops Hofund and Norse greataxes for the Weapons table. Walkthrough on the Northern Lands guide.

Sarugami (Yokai Peak) — Multi-phase telegraphs, kiting patterns, and an enrage that wipes the run. Drops Akuma pieces and the final on-ramp before Abyssal Void.

Vytelus (Gilded Skies) — Air-phase kiting, beam punish windows, and a shield that resets every 30 seconds. Drops the Gildenscale material and a Mage set upgrade.

These four fights are the only sources of Ultimate-tier drops. Everything else is filler.

A tier — Map gate bosses

Adelys (Abyssal Void) — The actual door boss of dungeon 17. Solid DPS check with a frontal cleave and a slam. Killing Adelys unlocks The Voidborn bonus attempt.

Dragon (Enchanted Forest) — Phase 2 fire breath and a tail swipe that punishes backpedaling. Standard Physical clear; Mages kite from the rear.

Cragg (Gilded Skies) — Stone giant with a ground slam that wipes ranged if you stand still. Drops Gildenscale and is the on-ramp to Vytelus.

Kiryne (Gilded Skies) — Faster than Cragg, with a wind cone. Run with displacement immunity or kiting pattern.

Tatsu (Yokai Peak) — Mid-boss, easier than Sarugami, drops Akuma shards. Standard difficulty curve.

These bosses are not Ultimate drop sources but they decide whether your party gets to the chest. They are real fights on Insane and Nightmare.

B tier — Mid-game fights

Sand Giant (Desert Temple Remaster) — A slam and a projectile circle. Practice fight for the Abyssal Void dodging.

Ice King (Winter Outpost Remaster) — Slow telegraph, big damage, healable between attacks. Practice fight for back-line awareness.

Pirate Captain (Pirate Island) — Cannon summoning adds and a hook that punishes off-tank positioning.

Samurai General (Samurai Palace) — Slash pattern with a counter window. Fast for a B-tier fight.

These bosses reward positioning more than gear. They are good farms on Nightmare for accounts climbing out of Pirate Island.

C tier — Easy clear targets

King’s Castle King (King’s Castle) — Straightforward slam pattern. A pure XP gate.

Underworld Demon (The Underworld) — Ranged adds and a teleport. Beatable by any party that finished Pirate Island.

Steampunk Inventor (Steampunk Sewers) — Rotating turrets. Skip if Orbital Outpost is already open.

Sewer Wraith (The Canals), Harbor Wraith (Ghastly Harbor), Orbital Captain (Orbital Outpost), Volcanic Hydra (Volcanic Chambers), Aquatic Serpent (Aquatic Temple) — Each is a clean gate with no mechanical surprise. They exist to unlock the next map.

Boss Raids targets

Boss Raids use daily tickets. The live raid bosses are:

  • Goliath — Tank check, drops rings and a Heal set. Solid daily target.
  • Hela — Mixed damage check, drops rings and Physical jewelry.
  • Fenrir — Speed check, drops rings and Spell Power jewelry.

You get one ticket per day. Spending it on the boss whose set you need is the Boss Raids rule. The rings are trade currency.

How to use this list

  1. Open the dungeon checker for the map your party is camping.
  2. Read the boss above for the fights that gate the door.
  3. Save Ultimate tickets for The Voidborn, Odin Reincarnation, Sarugami, or Vytelus only.
  4. Do not chase bonus spawns on B-tier maps; the Dungeons tier list is the real plan.
  5. Check the Updates Hub when Voldex drops a new bonus boss or raid target.

The boss is half of the fight. The Builds Hub is the other half.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Which boss drops the best loot?

The Voidborn in Abyssal Void drops Voidspire and Voidfallen's Effigy. Odin Reincarnation drops Hofund. Both are S-tier Ultimate sources.

Do bonus bosses always spawn?

No. Bonus spawns are tied to difficulty and clear conditions. Nightmare plus a fast clear raises the odds but is not a guarantee.

Are Boss Raids worth a daily ticket?

Yes if you need the ring set. Save tickets for the raid whose set matches your build instead of burning them on F-tier targets.

Should I farm mid-game bosses for fun?

Sure, but they do not move you up the [Weapons](/tier-list/weapons/) list. Prioritize A and S fights for power.
